The Celebration of the Synaxis of the Mother of God at the Metropolitan Cathedral “The Nativity of the Lord” in Chișinău

On the second day of the great feast of the Nativity of the Lord, when the Synaxis of the Mother of God is celebrated, on January 8, 2026, His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chișinău and of All Moldova, was in the midst of the parishioners of the Metropolitan Cathedral “The Nativity of the Lord” in the capital.

The campaign ‘At Christmas, You Become Better!’ brought gifts and hope to the hearts of hundreds of children and vulnerable families across the country

Like the Magi who once brought gifts to the Infant Jesus, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, the clergy and volunteers of the Orthodox Church of Moldova offered gifts to hundreds of socially vulnerable children and families throughout the country, within the framework of the philanthropic campaign “At Christmas, You Become Better!”, 7th edition. The campaign is organized and coordinated this year as well by the Synodal Department for Social Activity and Charity, with the aim of bringing hope, comfort, and joy into the hearts of its beneficiaries. In this context, social and philanthropic activities were carried out in several parishes across the country, on the occasion of the Feast of the Nativity of the Lord and that of Saint Basil the Great.

His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir officiated the Holy Liturgy on the Great Feast of the Nativity of the Lord, which also marked the patronal feast of the Metropolitan Cathedral

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given;

The first spiritual evening of the Nativity Fast took place in Chișinău

With the blessing and pastoral care of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, the cycle of spiritual evenings dedicated to young people and the general public began at the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts in Chișinău. These events are organized during the Nativity Fast by the Synodal Department for Social Activity and Charity of the Orthodox Church of Moldova. The first meeting took place on Monday, 8 December 2025, at 7:00 p.m., with Fr. Mihail Tihonov, a cleric of the church “The Nativity of Saint John the Baptist” in Chișinău, as the guest speaker.
