His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir Celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the Fifth Sunday after Pentecost at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chișinău

Today, July 5, on the Fifth Sunday after Pentecost (the Sunday of the Healing of the Two Demoniacs of the Region of the Gadarenes), His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Lord in Chișinău, together with a host of priests and deacons.

On this Sunday, the Orthodox Church appoints the Gospel reading from Matthew 8:28–34; 9:1, which recounts the healing of the two demoniacs in the region of the Gadarenes.

“From this Gospel we learn that our Savior Jesus Christ came to bring healing to those who were held in the bondage of the devil, to those who suffered, and to those afflicted by long-standing illness. As the Son of God, who came into the world out of love for fallen humanity, He showed compassion and understanding to everyone. Through His example, He teaches us how we should treat others—those who suffer, those who are lonely, those who have reached the limits of their endurance and are no longer accepted by others, those who live on the margins of society, and those whom no one else is willing to help. Our Savior Jesus Christ always revealed this inexpressible love for every person He encountered.”
