On the third Sunday after Pascha, dedicated to the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women, the fifth edition of the March for the Family was scheduled to take place in Orhei, an event dedicated to supporting the Christian family and promoting traditional values.
Due to unfavorable weather conditions, the program was modified, and instead of the march, a Moleben (Prayer Service) for the well-being of families was celebrated at the Episcopal Cathedral “Holy Great Martyr Demetrius” in the municipality of Orhei.
The service was officiated by His Grace Siluan, Bishop of Orhei and Metropolitan Vicar, in the presence of clergy and numerous faithful who gathered to pray for the peace, unity, and protection of Christian families.
The family remains the foundation of Christian life and the support of society as a whole—the place where faith, love, and moral values are cultivated and passed on from generation to generation. In today’s world, when the traditional family faces many challenges, prayer and a return to God become a source of strength, peace, and blessing.
At the conclusion of the service, His Grace Siluan addressed those present with a word of teaching, speaking about the Sunday of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women and their example of faith, love, and devotion. The Bishop of Orhei emphasized that the Myrrh-Bearing Women remain a living model for all Christian women—of fidelity to Christ, courage in confessing the faith, and sacrificial service to the Church.
At the same time, His Grace congratulated all the Christian women present, encouraging them to follow the example of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women, who teach us how to honor Christ the Savior and how to preserve His living presence in the life of the family and of the Church.
The lives of countless women like the Myrrh-Bearers—who lived in discretion, fidelity, and sacrificial love—illuminate the two-thousand-year history of the Church. They show us the path of steadfast love, which cannot be diverted by anything and which leads to the discovery of Truth and authentic joy.
The hierarch also emphasized the importance of the family as the “domestic church,” a sacred place where the essential values for a better world are nurtured. The family, as the primary cell of the Church, is the space in which love, reverence for God, and Christian responsibility are transmitted from generation to generation, becoming a living icon of God-blessed love and unity.
