PASTORAL MESSAGE
of His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chișinău and All Moldova
to the clergy and faithful of the Orthodox Church of Moldova
Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,
In recent times, there has been a growing number of telephone fraud cases in which ill-intentioned individuals, using deception and various methods of manipulation, attempt to obtain money, personal information, or mislead citizens by often invoking false emergency situations, the names of institutions, or even the names of Church representatives.
In the face of these regrettable incidents, we offer you this fatherly exhortation to remain cautious and vigilant. We kindly urge you not to respond to suspicious calls, not to share personal information, and always to verify through reliable means any request that appears unusual. In cases of uncertainty, please seek guidance from your parish priest, trusted members of your community, or the competent state authorities.
Let us not forget that deceit and falsehood bring confusion, fear, and harm, while the Christian is called to live in truth, moderation, and peace. Remaining spiritually watchful and exercising discernment is a form of protection both for ourselves and for those close to us.
We pray to the Merciful God to protect everyone from every temptation and deception, to grant wisdom and inner peace, and to strengthen each person in faith and love toward their neighbor.
