The Passion Service at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chișinău

6

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, on the evening of Sunday, March 8, 2026, His Grace Siluan, Bishop of Orhei and Vicar of the Metropolis of Moldova, officiated the Passion Service at the Metropolitan Cathedral “The Nativity of the Lord” in Chișinău.

Together with His Grace, the clergy of the Cathedral and numerous faithful gathered in prayer, having come to take part in this special Lenten service, during which the Holy and Saving Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ is commemorated.

In his homily, the hierarch emphasized that the mystery of man’s salvation is fully revealed through the Cross of the Savior, the place where God’s sacrificial love for the world is made manifest. Through His sacrifice on the Cross, Christ opened for humanity the way to eternal life, calling all to become children of God by grace.

Thus, the taking up of the Cross in the Christian life signifies sacrifice, self-giving, and love for one’s neighbor. The faithful are called to direct their mind and heart toward Christ, asking for His help in rising from their falls and in walking on the path of salvation.

Faith in the power of the Cross gives meaning and light to human life. By participating in this mystery, the Christian embraces not only the personal living of the faith, but also its confession in the world. In the light of the Cross is also revealed the mystery of the Resurrection, which brings hope and joy to all who follow Christ.
