On the Feast of the Holy Three Hierarchs, Thursday, February 12, 2026, His Grace Siluan, Bishop of Orhei, Vicar of the Metropolis of Chișinău and All Moldova, celebrated the Holy Liturgy at Hirova Monastery. Concelebrating with His Grace were Archimandrite Irinarh (Rusu), the Monastery’s Spiritual Father, together with a host of clergy.
With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, during the Holy Liturgy, Monk Marcu (Costin) was ordained to the rank of Hierodeacon, and Hierodeacon Artemie (Frunza) was ordained to the rank of Hieromonk.
The Holy Three Hierarchs – Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and John Chrysostom – are counted among the most illustrious Saints of the Church of Christ. Their complex personalities and vast culture, especially in theology, made a profound impact on all aspects of Christian life in the 4th century, known as the “Golden Age” of the Church. They labored tirelessly for the strengthening of the true faith and for the advancement of the Church in all areas: pastoral, missionary, social, and cultural. During their earthly lives, they distinguished themselves as prominent personalities, refusing compromises in promoting the true faith, being unique as hierarchs, ministers of the Holy Altar, theological writers, and initiators of reforms in the spirit of the Gospel.
They devoted themselves entirely to the service of Christ, often forgetting themselves for the good of the Church and sacrificing with dedication for their neighbor, even though their health was not strong. Though they lived relatively short lives – Saint Basil the Great 49 years, Saint Gregory of Nazianzus 60 years, Saint John Chrysostom 53 years – they accomplished great works. Their sermons, homilies, dogmatic and moral writings, the establishment of hospitals, schools, and centers for the poor or girls cast out from their homes are remarkable achievements, strengthened by divine grace and accomplished within only a few years, of such value and magnitude that for other people they would have required two or even three lifetimes.
At the conclusion, His Grace Siluan congratulated everyone on the occasion of the feast, urging them to follow the example of holiness set by the Holy Three Hierarchs.
