The campaign ‘At Christmas, You Become Better!’ brought gifts and hope to the hearts of hundreds of children and vulnerable families across the country

Like the Magi who once brought gifts to the Infant Jesus, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, the clergy and volunteers of the Orthodox Church of Moldova offered gifts to hundreds of socially vulnerable children and families throughout the country, within the framework of the philanthropic campaign “At Christmas, You Become Better!”, 7th edition. The campaign is organized and coordinated this year as well by the Synodal Department for Social Activity and Charity, with the aim of bringing hope, comfort, and joy into the hearts of its beneficiaries. In this context, social and philanthropic activities were carried out in several parishes across the country, on the occasion of the Feast of the Nativity of the Lord and that of Saint Basil the Great.

Thus, in the Parish of the “Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos” in the village of Opaci, Căușeni District, a charitable action took place to support socially vulnerable families with children, as well as elderly people living alone in the locality. On Friday, 9 January 2026, Hieromonk Macarie Crudu, together with young volunteers and carolers of the parish, visited more than 20 families, offering gifts to the children and food packages and hot meals to the adults. At the same time, through traditional carols, the joy of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ was proclaimed.

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir and His Eminence Archbishop Petru, another charitable action was organized in the Parish of “Saint Hieromartyr Phocas” in the village of Băcșeni, Nisporeni District, dedicated to supporting disadvantaged families with children, as well as elderly and sick persons living alone. On the eve of the feast of Saint Basil the Great, Hieromonk Macarie Crudu, together with the parish priest Silvian Darii and parish volunteers, visited more than 25 families, offering gifts to children and social aid packages to the elderly and the sick, as a sign of Christian mercy and love.

At the same time, in the Parish dedicated to “Saint Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian” in the village of Peresecina, Orhei District, more than 200 children received gift boxes, small icons, catechetical materials, and sweets on the feast day of Saint Basil the Great, within the same philanthropic campaign.

The gifts offered to the children in these localities were prepared with great dedication by the faithful of the Orthodox Parish dedicated to “Saint Nicholas the Hierarch” in London, led by the parish priest, Archpriest Nicolae Prescură, who, through this gesture of solidarity, showed their Christian love toward their brothers and sisters in need. In addition, some of the gift boxes for children were provided with the support of the Public Association “Round Table” in Chișinău and the NGO “Faith and Mercy.”

May the Good God reward everyone for the sacrifice that gave rise to the joy of giving and receiving, and may Christ our Lord, Who “became man so that man might become god by grace,” grant everyone blessed feasts, health, and peace of soul!
