With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, on the evening of the Third Sunday of Great Lent — the Sunday of the Holy Cross — His Grace Bishop Filaret officiated the Akathist of the Holy Passion at the Metropolitan Cathedral “The Nativity of the Lord” in Chișinău.
The Akathist of the Holy Passion is a particularly profound service dedicated to the sufferings of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through hymns and prayers, the faithful are encouraged to meditate upon the Savior’s path of suffering — from His prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane to His Crucifixion on Golgotha — gaining a deeper understanding of His sacrifice for the salvation of the world.
At the conclusion of the service, His Grace Bishop Filaret delivered a homily, emphasizing the importance of spiritual preparation during this period and encouraging the faithful to live Great Lent with greater faith and closer communion with God.
