On the Sunday after the Baptism of the Lord and the feast of the Holy Martyr Tatiana, His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chișinău and of All Moldova, celebrated the Holy and Divine Liturgy at the Metropolitan Cathedral “The Nativity of the Lord” in Chișinău.
Together with the Primate, prayers were offered by protopresbyter Vadim Cheibaș, Metropolitan Secretary and Ecclesiarch of the Cathedral, along with a host of priests and deacons.
The divine service was adorned by the ordination of Deacon Igor Coadă to the rank of priest, appointed to serve at the parish of Saint Venerable Parascheva in the municipality of Chișinău.
The Holy Evangelist Matthew speaks to us today about the beginning of the preaching of our Savior Jesus Christ in the regions of Galilee: “The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned” (Matthew 4:16).
The Holy Church is a source of light. Through her teaching and the Holy Mysteries, through canons and ecclesiastical commandments, we are granted the light that descends from heaven, guiding our minds and hearts toward truth and righteousness.
Christ the Savior calls us to eternal life when He says: “I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (John 8:12); and “I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live” (John 11:25).
