On the occasion of Medical Worker and Pharmacist Day, I extend to all doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and the entire healthcare staff of our country my heartfelt words of gratitude and blessing.
Your service is a noble and deeply sacrificial calling, dedicated to the care of the most precious gift given by God — human life. Every day, through knowledge, dedication, patience, and compassion, you draw near to the suffering of your neighbor, bringing comfort, healing, and hope.
The Orthodox Church has always held in high esteem those who care for the sick, seeing in this mission an expression of mercy and Christian love. In this regard, the work of the Church and that of medical institutions are complementary and profoundly human: the Church offers spiritual comfort, prayer, and hope, while the hospital provides treatment, care, and physical healing. Both serve, in different yet united ways, the dignity and life of the human person.
We encourage you to remain steadfast in this calling, despite difficulties and trials, carrying in your hearts faith, hope, and love for your neighbor.
We pray that the Merciful God may grant you health, strength, wisdom, and help in all your work, protect you together with your families, and reward the efforts of each of you with spiritual joy and inner peace.
With fatherly blessing,
† VLADIMIR
Metropolitan of Chișinău and All Moldova
