His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir officiated at the Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord at the Metropolitan Cathedral

When You were baptized in the Jordan, O Lord, the worship of the Holy Trinity was revealed; for the voice of the Father bore witness to You, calling You His beloved Son, and the Spirit, in the form of a dove, confirmed the truth of His word. O Christ God, Who have revealed Yourself and enlightened the world, glory to You.

On Monday, January 19, 2026, the day of the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, the parishioners of the Metropolitan Cathedral “Nativity of the Lord” in the municipality of Chișinău gathered in prayer at the Divine Liturgy officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Moldova.

In an atmosphere of spiritual celebration, alongside the Archpastor prayed priest Vadim Cheibaș, Secretary of the Metropolis of Moldova, together with the clergy and faithful of the holy place.

The liturgical responses were offered by the mixed hierarchical choir of the Cathedral, conducted by Mrs. Angela Angheni.

The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord is also known as the “Manifestation of the Lord,” “Revelation of the Incarnate Word,” “Epiphany,” or “Theophany,” as it commemorates the moment when our Savior Jesus Christ was baptized by Saint John the Baptist in the waters of the Jordan, on which occasion the Holy Trinity was revealed to the world.

One of the purposes for which Christ was baptized was to become a model for us, for our spiritual life begins through the Mystery of Baptism, just as the work of the salvation of the world began with the Baptism of Christ, after which followed all the other saving events: the Passion, Crucifixion, Resurrection, and Ascension.

With a special prayerful solemnity, the moment of the sanctification of the water was marked, one of the most important moments of today’s Feast.

After the blessing of the water, the faithful received the Great Agheasma, which they may partake of every morning on an empty stomach until the Leave-taking of the Feast, that is, until January 27.
