Biography:

Archbishop Neofit (Nevodicicov Nicolai Vasile) was born in 1819 in Saint Petersburg.

He received his initial education at the Theological Seminary in Ekaterinoslav.

In 1844, he graduated from the Theological Academy in Moscow with a doctorate in theology.

From 1844 to 1850, he served as secretary to Alexander Scarlat Sturza, a diplomat and writer on religious topics.

From November 1, 1850 – professor at the Seminary in Chișinău.

On May 18, 1858 – ordained priest and appointed professor of law at the orphanage in Odessa.

In 1861 – professor at the Theological Seminary in Odessa.

On December 15, 1864 – inspector at the Theological Seminary in Kherson.

In 1868 – professor of law at the commercial school and Gymnasium No. 2 in Odessa.

On April 3, 1876 – received the rank of protopriest.

On May 17, 1880 – tonsured a monk, and on May 25 received the rank of archimandrite.

On August 10, 1880 – consecrated bishop of Elisavetgrad, vicar of the Diocese of Kherson. On August 6, 1883 – bishop of Tashkent and Turkestan.

After the earthquake of 1887, he oversaw the reconstruction of churches that had been destroyed.

On November 21, 1892, he became Archbishop of Chișinău and Hotin.

On January 26, 1898, he retired due to advanced age, living at the episcopal house in Izmail, Diocese of Chișinău.

He passed away on March 10, 1910.
